Victor Akinyanju, Founder
Mr. Akinyanju’s basketball career began at Eleanor Roosevelt high school in Greenbelt, Maryland where he was a 3-year varsity player, and was selected as the defensive player of the year for his squad each of those three years. In 2002, he was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, and led his squad to the schools 1st state championship in 2002. A highly-touted recruit coming out of high school, Victor was headed to prep school after graduating from Eleanor Roosevelt High, but his high school coach had a relationship with the coach at Cecil Community College at the time, which is where he ended up attending from 2002-2005.
While at Cecil Community College, Akinyanju led his team in rebounding during his freshman and sophomore seasons respectively. Victor was selected 1st team all-conference, and 1st team all-tournament his sophomore year. He finished his career at Cecil as the all-time leader in rebounds and blocks. He then went on to play at Quinnipiac University from 2005-2007, where he again led the team in rebounding. After a successful collegiate career, Akinyanju went on to play professionally in the Dominican Republic and Portugal.
Since his retirement, Victor has sponsored countless events through his non-profit organization in hopes of providing the youth with positive outlets and opportunities that will help them succeed in the classroom, as well as on the court. Victor currently resides in Ardimore, Maryland.
